The National Football League (NFL) has continued to grow its brand into one of the biggest and most popular sporting leagues in the entire world thanks to its global presence as well as its mass fan base, which has since contributed to the baffling number of licensed merchandise that is purchased every year by fans of any one of the 32 different teams.

One of the most commonly sold aspects of NFL merch is a team’s jersey with an active or legendary players name on the back with their respective number, which can include an iconic QB for any of the top contenders in the league, all the way down to a third-string option on special teams from which fans can purchase any choice of jersey names and numbers.

Throughout the 2023/24 NFL season, fans were frequently spotted donning the jersey names of their favorite players, with some of the league’s most prestigious and celebrated star players even earning several spots in the top rankings for the league’s top-selling jerseys during the season, with these being the top choices for fans around the league.

  • Micah Parsons (LB)  – Dallas Cowboys:

It may come as a surprise to most that the highest-selling jersey name for the 2023/24 NFL season was a player on the defensive side of the ball, however, when it soon revealed that the player in question is a significant part of the league’s most popular and most coveted franchise in the Dallas Cowboys, it certainly explains why star edge rusher Micah Parsons attained the most jersey sales from last season.

Parsons has quickly emerged on the scene as one of the top young stars in the league following his 2021 first round draft selection by the Cowboys, which has catapulted their defense into one of the most feared in the entire league as well as placing ‘America’s Team’ into firm Superbowl contention.

Alongside his devastating play on the gridiron, Parsons has also become a household name in the US media thanks to his newly created podcast called ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons’ which gives a players perspective into the ongoings within the nation’s most valuable team with fans more than willing to spend big on one of the league’s most outspoken characters and his familiar jersey number.

  • Patrick Mahomes (QB) – Kansas City Chiefs:

Of course most NFL fans will be quick to fork out a large shilling for a franchise QB’s jersey as it is the most important position on the field as well as housing several of the league’s top star names which includes Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

Following on from his second successive Superbowl winning campaign that saw the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in Las Vegas, Mahomes has remained at the pinnacle of NFL popularity as the face of the league and the latest QB to enter into all-time great status as he aims to follow in the footsteps of legends such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Joe Montana.

Heading into the 2024/25 season, Mahomes’ dominance as the league’s top gunslinger is only expected to continue as he is currently ranked atop the latest NFL MVP odds on DraftKings at +450, with the Chiefs now aiming to claim a three-peat of title winning seasons and their fifth Lombardi trophy in franchise history.

  • Travis Kelce (TE) – Kansas City Chiefs:

While the All-Pro Tight End has always remained an integral part of the Chiefs offense thanks to his devastating partnership with the aforementioned Mahomes as well as his explosive yet likeable personality that has catapulted the former Cincinnati Bearcat into one of the premier players and faces of the league, its his recent relationship with pop icon Taylor Swift that has truly placed Kelce into the worldwide scene.

Kelce’s relationship with Swift began back in the Autumn months of 2023 and continued to become a hot topic on all sports media topics and talk shows as the two were frequently seen together at the end of Chiefs games and during Swift’s international tour whilst on their bye week.

Following on from Kansas City’s Superbowl victory over the 49ers, Kelce and Swift shared a kiss on the field at the conclusion of the game and have since shared a very public relationship which has allowed the legendary Tight End to become a regular asset in NFL jersey sales to both fans of the game and of course Taylor’s worldwide fanbase of ‘Swifties’, who can now often be seen wearing Kelce’s 87 numbered shirt at concerts.

Some other popular jersey name sales include Phialdephia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy and RB Christian McCaffrey, Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt, Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill and Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson who took home the MVP award for the 2023 regular season.
